Neighborhood Watch - Setting It Up
  • Start out small and expand!
  • Poll your neighbors to find out what day of the week (Monday through Thursday) and time are the best for the majority. Do not pick an exact date!
  • After determining the best day and time please contact a Crime Prevention Specialist with the Sacramento Police Department to schedule an exact date that will work for everyone.
  • Make sure that the location you have chosen for the meeting will be able to accommodate everyone.
  • After the meeting date and time has been confirmed with the Crime Prevention Specialist, make up a flyer, call, or send out an e-mail to let all your neighbors know when and where the meeting will be.
  • Ask people to RSVP so you know how many to expect.

Helpful hints on how to have a good meeting: provide name tags, provide refreshments, encourage people to show up a few minutes early to socialize and introduce themselves to other neighbors, provide a sign in sheet and make sure people sign it, involve everyone!
